FEATURES

The 400MHz iPAQ H3970 is probably the most versatile in the range offering the widest range of accessories and greatest compatability with add on devices through its use of Pocket PC 2002 and the original form factor that accepts all expansion jackets and external keyboards and cables.

The powerful iPAQ 3970 has a 400MHz Intel XScale Processor with 64MB of Memory built in and a Secure Digital (SD) Memory Slot which also accepts MultiMedia Cards (MMC) for memory upgrades of up to 512Mb or up to 3Gb via an optional Compact Flash card jacket.

The Compaq iPAQ 3970 boasts integrated Bluetooth capabilities enabling the use of wireless e-mail web browsing with a Bluetooth compatible phone such as the Ericsson T39, T68i, Nokia 6310, 6310i and many more recent models.

The iPAQ 3970 offers a sharp 65,000+ colours Transflective TFT liquid crystal display Touch Screen (240 x 320 pixels) for decent rendering of video and photos on screen or for integration with a Compact Flash camera.

The longer lasting iPAQ 3970 has an improved battery life of up to 15 hours, with bluetooth disabled, and which can last several days away from a charger, although it is designed to be redocked each day rather than for a week's travel without power.

The built in sound system in the Compaq iPAQ H3970 is one of the best on the market, with louder speakers than earlier and later models. This makes it ideal as a Media Player even without headphones and especially for GPS Satellite Navigation as the clear voice directions can be heard distinctly over the din of traffic and engine noice or in-car radio.

The iPAQ range are designed to go everywhere with you and come with standard software applications like Microsoft Pocket Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player. These applications will synchronise with their big brother versions in the Microsoft Office series. Included is a full copy of Outlook for your PC worth over a £100. PowerPoint presentations can be viewed and dispplayed via your iPAQ using a Compact Flash to VGA card from Pretec or Margi.

" The screen is beautiful beyond words (I've never said that about a Pocket PC until now), the iPAQ 3800 series bugs are NOT present, the SD card slot is fast and it has some nifty new features. It is not noticeably faster than the StrongARM processor-driven iPAQs of the past ... Battery life is head and shoulders above the 3800 series (which was no slouch)...The SD card slot is MUCH faster than the iPAQ 3800 series and benchmarks faster than the Toshiba e740. It has a 4 bit bus (compared to the 3800 series 1 bit bus) and supports SDIO, which means you can use it for communications SD cards like Bluetooth and whatever else comes along...Pro: Best in class screen, truly excellent battery life for a Pocket PC. SD card slot is fast, Bluetooth works well and reliably, generous software bundle. FileStore allows you to store data in a user-accessible Flash ROM area. For the 3970 model, 48 megs of Flash ROM space means you have 22 megs of safe storage for important files, contacts and etc, and likely enough room to store future operating system upgrades.
